New Renton sidewalk ordinance meeting

New Renton sidewalk ordinance meeting

The FNHOA Secretary, Mary Lou, has reserved a room at the Renton Highlands library 8-11-17 at 12:30 PM; we have the room from 12:30 to 2:00 PM.
Greg Zimmerman, with Renton City, will be there to explain the ordinance and answer questions; he may also bring additional staff.

Proposed for the agenda are the following:
1) Have someone from the city explain what the new sidewalk ordinance means to homeowners and HOA’s
2) Advise attendees of process to cut down trees that are affecting sidewalks
3) time frames
4) Questions which may include: historical input regarding tree selection from Renton when our development was built; definition of who is responsible (i.e., the homeowner, the HOA, the city, etc.); involvement of Renton during tree and sidewalk phases

We asked interested homeowners to submit questions; here are (3) additional questions one homeowner came up with:

5) If the sidewalk damaged by the rogue tree roots hurt some pedestrians, who’s responsible?
6) Does the city have some assistance, i.e. financial to help pay for cutting down such trees?
7) If a tree is deemed owned by a certain homeowner, AND the maintenance of that tree (sweeping leaves, fruits, trimming broken/lowered branches, repairing sidewalk damages, etc.) is not up to par, what can his/her neighbor do?
